Dear Gray M. Sanborn Families,

As the new principal of Sanborn, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome back to all our returning families and a heartfelt greeting to those who are joining our school community for the first time. I am also excited to introduce our school theme for this year: “Be Here. Be You. Belong.”

This powerful theme captures our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, accepted, and encouraged to be their authentic selves. Each part of our theme may have its own interpretation to students and families, but collectively we can strive to embody our school theme together. 

Be Here. 

Sanborn emphasizes the importance of presence—both physical and mental—in our school community. This year we will focus on increasing our attendance as we value the teacher-student connection and relationship and in-person learning time. Additionally, when students are present, they have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with peers and teachers, and contribute positively to our school culture. 

Be You.

Sanborn celebrates our diversity. We encourage every student to embrace who they are, their unique talents, interests, and perspectives. 

Belong. 

Our staff believes that every student deserves to feel a sense of belonging at Sanborn. We strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels accepted, respected, and supported. 

Throughout the year, we will integrate our theme "Be Here. Be You. Belong." into various aspects of school life, including classroom activities, assemblies, and discussions. We hope that it will inspire meaningful conversations, promote understanding, and reinforce our commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
